Well, where do I start! To cut a long story short - just buy it. You won't be disappointed!
Ok, so as I fleshed out my setup with a new aluminium rig, triple monitors, bass shakers and flag boxes I thought...what next? My wheel atm is a Conspit 300GT which has a tiny, tiny screen which I have barely looked at so I thought a DDU would be useless to me....but then I stumbled on a video and it changed my mind.
So, I thought let's go and investigate this SRA 6.8" DDU. At first glance I took a step at the price BUT when I looked elsewhere for similar they were £100 over and more. I wasn't concerned about non aluminium housing as the screen is the star. I then thought, is it too big? So, I took the measurements provided on-site and make a cardboard mockup and found that it didn't dominate my 32's at all. Decision was made, I will take the plunge!
2 days later it arrived. Wonderfully packaged to protect during transit, I just couldn't wait to set it up. Mounted to my VRS easily, attached to my powered USB Hub with the high quality right angled USB cable they provide and I was off. Simhub recognised it immediately and set up was a breeze. I have my LED profile via ATSR and combined with this DDU the end result is a thing of beauty. My dash of choice was the Lovely Dashboard and the legibility in this screen is incredible. The final piece of immersion (for me) was complete. Removed the animated wheel/hands from my sim and it really IS immersive. I still haven't removed the plastic film but the screen is gorilla glass ffs! Will remove it when next at rig for next session.
The unit is solid when attached with the universal carbon mount. The 3D printed enclosure is top notch, Was worried I would be out off by this but it is finished to a high standard and when racing you only see the screen. The screen....oh my god. Seriously, this is absolutely glorious. Pin-sharp pixels and very bright. I took the awesome LEDs down to 50% and still plenty bright.
So, after that long review I can definitely concur that this is indeed the real deal. If you are on the fence, don't be. You will NOT regret this purchase.
Side note. In the pics, they came from Raceroom and for some reason the rpms are just red. This is an ATSR issue and and not the DDU. And the red smudge on my Lovely Dash idle screen is just me smudging outy name 😂
Fantastic product with speedy delivery. Exactly what I wanted adding to the immersion of my set up. Highly recommend!
I like it but I find the screen a little small but at the time I bought it, it was on sale and was around my budget, would prefer 60fps screen too. Personally I’d suggest getting the larger one
Hi Purzifal, thanks for your review. Just for your information, the screen is 60fps compatible, have a look at SimHUB settings.
I am a man of many dashes. I have bought some and I have made some myself. This dashboard is the daddy. It's the best dash of all the dashes.
I was a bit concerned that the body would look cheap being printed, but the marksmanship is quality. The gorilla glass front and perfectly aligned LEDs is what makes this dash look like it came straight out of a race car. I love it.
It has become my main dash with my old dash being used as a rear view camera.
Highly recommended.
I initially bought one of the 10.5 5” DDUs and it was fantastic and still works flawlessly. But my old eyes were having trouble on some dashes with the small fonts so I upgraded to the 10.7 6.8”. The size difference is significant. And I freaking love this thing. I still use the 10.5 running DNR Co-pilot and run the main DNR Endurance dash on the 10.7. They have both been flawless. The fit and finish are top notch. The screen is super clear and bright and I love the LED layout which the DNR profile makes full use of. I purchased with the universal mounts which are very well done. The magnetic hold of the DDU is super secure and add a ton of flexibility. I really have zero cons about either unit. They are definitely a good value and I would suggest them to anyone in a heartbeat. Watch some YouTube video reviews to see them in action but I have nothing but positive things to say about them both. Great purchase!
